Walter E. Washington Convention Center
801 Mount Vernon Place Northwest Room 206
About The Event:
The year 2018 has been labeled the “Year of the Woman” because an unprecedented number of female candidates signed up to run for Congress, state legislatures and local school boards. Women have taken to the streets in masses to advocate for legislation and policies regarding human rights, women’s rights, immigration reform, health care, gun violence and much more.
On Wednesday, September 12 from 4:30 P.M. until 6:30 P.M. in Room 206 of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, the Sojourner Truth Legacy Project Chaired by Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke in collaboration with the Women of the CBC, will host their 3rd Annual Town Hall themed, “Lead. Run. Vote. As Black Women Go, So Goes the Nation”. Come out and lend your voice to the discussion on how Black women have saved us in recent elections. Speakers will share their expertise and experience in politics, best practices for the mobilization of black women voters and tips for how black women can run for office.
